The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is organizing a grand Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra festival on Saturday.
The procession will start at 1:15 pm from the Secunderabad ISKCON temple near the Sangeet theatre crossroads.
ISKCON president Dr Sahadeva Dasa and festival coordinator Narayan Dasa stated that the Lord's chariot would start from the ISKCON temple and return after passing through St Ann's School, Hari Hara Kala Bhavan, Rashtrapathi Road, the Bata crossroads, Monda Market, the old Gandhi hospital crossroads, Secunderabad Clock Tower, Sarojini Devi Road and the Sangeet Theatre junction.
This will be followed by devotional and cultural programs, and a Maha Arati at the ISKCON grounds. There will a grand dinner prasadam for one and all.
They said that the festival would be attended by some 50,000 Jagannath devotees, and that the prasadam would be distributed to one lakh devotees en route. The spectacular Maha Arati will be performed with 600 lamps at 8 pm.
They said that the Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra was a festival of unity and peace, and was celebrated in over 4,000 cities around the world every year by ISKCON. It was also the world's oldest surviving festival, they claimed.
