TDP leader Nandamuri Hari Krishna, on Thursday, resigned as member of Rajya Sabha, in protest against the Centre's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P J Kurien later announced in the House that Hari Krishna's resignation has been accepted.
Hari Krishna had earlier signed his resignation letter at his father NTR's memorial, and faxed it to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat. However, since the letter was not in the Speaker's format, he prepared another letter in the required format, and submitted it to Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari on Thursday.
Hari Krishna has accused the Congress of dividing the Telugu people through bifurcation. He is now likely to join the Samaikyandhra movement, although he did not disclose his future plans. (INN)
