Naidu accuses the CM of mortgaging the rights of AP's people by agreeing to every proposal put forward at the tripartite conclave held in Delhi over Babli.
Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday warned the state government that his party would intensify its agitation if the centre does not solve the Babli issue within the deadline.
He accused chief minister K Rosaiah of mortgaging the rights of AP's people by agreeing to every proposal put forward at the tripartite conclave held in New Delhi over the sharing of the Godavari's waters, just to save his seat.
Talking to media persons at the NTR Trust Bhavan after emerging out of a meeting conducted on the Babli issue, he alleged that the CM has obeyed the orders of the centre without bothering about the interests of the farmers of the state.
He blamed Rosaiah for not briefing the opposition leaders of the tripartite meeting held in New Delhi on the Babli issue immediately after his return.
He urged the CM to explain to people and farmers of the state what exactly took place at the conclave between the PM and the chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
He maintained that the construction undertaken by Maharashtra government on the Godavari river as part of the Babli Irrigation Project was illegal.
"Even though they (the Maharashtra government and Union Water Ministry) know that the construction of dam is illegal and has been opposed by the Supreme Court, they are going ahead with the project, violating the inter-state river water agreement," he said.
