Government Whip Shailajanath on Friday demanded that Telugu Desam party president N Chandrababu Naidu explain his absence from the all-party meeting on the Babli issue called by Chief Minister K Rosaiah.
Shailajanath charged that Naidu was under pressure from his own party members to abstain from the meeting despite creating an image of spearheading the protests against the illegal constructions as part of the Babli project.
Talking to media persons, Shailajanath accused Naidu of 'habitually' skipping important meetings. He advised the TDP cadre not to follow this 'bad habit.'
The Government Whip said that the TDP president sent 4 of his party leaders but did not attend himself. He emphasised that only one person from each political party was permitted to attend the meeting.
He said that the
walkout by the TDP citing the number of persons permitted was proof that the party was not sincere towards the Babli issue, and that it was only interested in publicity.
Claiming that Naidu was interested in generating publicity at the cost of the interests of the state, Shailajanath said that the TDP chief had a moral responsibility to attend the all-party meeting since it was he who had forced the meeting in the first place.
Shailajanath sought to reiterate the government's commitment to solving the Babli issue, and said that Rosaiah was more than capable of getting justice done for the people of the state.
