Law Minister Erasu Pratap Reddy on Sunday reiterated that the resignations of elected representatives would not prevent the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to reporters, Erasu said that the resignations might lead to the imposition of President's rule in the state, and that this would only make the process of formation of a Telangana state easier. He added that by staying on in their posts, MLAs from the Seemandhra region could defeat the Telangana resolution in the state Legislative Assembly.
Stating that he remains ready to make any "sacrifice", Erasu said that he would resign from his post immediately after the Assembly debates, and defeat the Telangana Bill. He said the resignations at this stage would only spoil the political atmosphere in the state. (INN)
