Law Minister Erasu Pratap Reddy demanded that a 45-day session of Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly be convened to debate the Telangana Bill.
Talking to reporters in the Assembly premises here on Thursday, Erasu said that all members of the Assembly should get an opportunity to speak on the Telangana Bill.
He added that the session should be convened the same way as it was done for the formation of other states.
Erasu made it clear that he is in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh and would strongly oppose the Telangana Bill.
Stating that the bifurcation of AP is not an easy task, Erasu said that several legal complications would crop up during or after the bifurcation.
Citing an instance, he said that while Srisailam Left Canal is part of the Telangana region as per the Revenue Department's records, the Forest Department's records show it to be a part of Seemandhra.
Similarly, Bhadrachalam is a part of the Seemandhra region in the Revenue Department's records, while the Forest Department's records show it to be a part of the Telangana region.
He said there are several other such instances which would create lot of legal complications.
Requesting the Centre to stop the process of Telangana formation, Erasu said that the Centre should first clear the apprehensions, fears and misunderstandings of the people belonging to both the Telangana and the Seemandhra regions. (INN)
