AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Monday strongly appealed to the Seemandhra MPs to reconsider their decision to resign from their posts.
Speaking to media persons in New Delhi, Digvijay Singh said that before the decision was taken, they had committed to the leadership that they would abide by the decision of the High Command.
"Now that the High Command has announced its decision, they should not go back on their word. I know it is difficult situation for them, but at the same time, we have to find solutions," he said.
"Once the decision has been taken, it is the responsibility of the Congress party and all its leaders including MPs, ministers, MLAs and the Chief Minister to find solutions so that the best deal is given to the people of Seemandhra, Telangana, and also the people of Hyderabad. I think we will all have to work together to find a solution, and to give proposals to the GoM set by the UPA Government," he said.
When asked about the Assembly resolution, Digvijay Singh admitted that there is no clarity on the same.
"This has to be clarified. The schedule which was given to me earlier included a resolution to be sent to the Assembly through the President of India. Now I'm told that the Union Home Minister gave some statements saying that the GoM has decided something else," he said adding that he had requested Sushil Kumar Shinde to give a new schedule if there were any changes in the earlier one.
Digvijay Singh evaded reply and just gave a smile when asked about Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's latest statement that though he "could not stop Cyclone Phailin, he would stop the bifurcation typhoon". (INN)
