Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu today inaugurated the new campus of Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University in Bachupally.
The event also marked the celebration of the university's 39th foundation day.
The campus spans over 100 acres and was built at a cost of Rs 35 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Babu said that the university was established with the aim of preserving and passing on the Telugu culture and traditions to future generations.
He praised the artistic talent of the university's students, and mentioned their participation in international exhibitions in countries including the United States and Malaysia. He also acknowledged the contributions of past luminaries who elevated the university's reputation and brought global recognition to the Telugu language.
Babu expressed hope that the university would develop further under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Nityananda Rao.
On the occasion, the minister also announced the allocation of 100 computers to enhance students' proficiency in technology. He encouraged students to gain expertise in artificial intelligence, and promised them skill development training in their chosen fields before they graduated.
During the event, Padma Bhushan awardee Varaprasad Reddy was honoured with a prestigious award and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. Reddy, in turn, donated Rs 1 crore for the development of the university.
