OU To Be On Par With Stanford, Oxford: Revanth Reddy

The Telangana CM said that the State government was committed to restoring the glory of the university.
Hyderabad | 25th August 2025
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that the State government was committed to developing Osmania University (OU) and restoring the glory of the prestigious institution.

He declared that the university would be developed to be on par with the world's top universities such as Stanford and Oxford.

The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating newly constructed hostel buildings and laying foundation stones for several facilities on the OU campus.

Reddy said that Osmania University was synonymous with Telangana, and that the two were conjoined twins. He said that the university should become a role model and a witness to history.

To strengthen the university, he announced the formation of an Engineers' Committee to study and recommend developmental measures. He also instructed officials to prepare detailed estimates for the university's development and submit them to him.

"I will return to the university, attend a meeting at the Arts College, and announce the sanction of funds for development," he said.

Reddy also declared that no police force would be deployed on the campus during his next visit. "Let the opposition parties stage protests during my visit. I am ready to answer those who try to obstruct me," he said.

Taking more swipes at his rivals, he said that some political leaders were in despair after losing power, and that the BRS leadership was worried about the political futures of their sons. Appealing to students not to fall into the opposition's traps, he said that his Cabinet colleagues and he himself would always be available to address their grievances. He also said that OU would lose its very existence if the opposition parties returned to power.

He also accused the opposition of conspiring against Prof Kodandaram (who used to teach at the university) and removing him from the MLC post through Supreme Court directions. "Their sadistic pleasure is evident. But the MLC post will be restored to Kodandaram," he said. He added that the BRS was in general viscerally anti-OU, and that the university would lose its very existence if the opposition parties returned to power.

The Chief Minister also cautioned the students against believing lies and misinformation being spread on social media. He said that the opposition was misusing artificial intelligence to circulate falsehoods, including claims that lions and elephants were living in the Central University. "In fact, Telangana is not home to lions or elephants," he said.

Expressing serious concern over drug abuse he said, "It is heartbreaking to see the menace of ganja and drug addiction among Telangana's youth. Everyone must work together to free them from this problem."

Revanth Reddy concluded by saying that education and awareness were the only true paths to success. "We have no treasure trove or land to distribute. What we can provide is quality education, which alone can change the destiny of every student. Education will make us prosperous and build character. Having faced poverty ourselves, we know well how to eradicate such social problems," he said.
