The ongoing padayatra of Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today witnessed a lathi-charge by the police in the undivided Warangal district.
The police were forced to resort to the cane charge due to a clash between TRS activists and BJP activists.
The activists of the TRS raised slogans against Bandi and asked him to stop his padayatra. The BJP activists then raised counter slogans against the TRS activists, leading to a clash.
Sensing a law and order problem, the police entered the scene and resorted to the lathi-charge to disperse the activists of the two parties. Some activists of both the parties sustained injuries in the cane charge.
Armed with the orders of the High Court to continue his padayatra, Bandi resumed his yatra from Pamnur, and covered Uppugal, Konur, Garimillapally and Nagapuram villages today. The yatra will conclude at the Bhadrakali temple in Hanamkonda tomorrow.
The State government has warned Bandi that it would stop his padayatra if he made any provocative speeches. Massive police forces have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident throughout the yatra.
