Warangal Police Ask BJP To Stop Yatra Or Face Action

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Wardhannapet division, Warangal Commissionerate, directed State BJP president and MP Bandi Sanjay, Padayatra Pramukh Dr G Manohar Reddy, G Premendar Reddy and Dugyala Pradeep Kumar to immediately stop the Praja Sangrama Yatra, and that action would be taken as per law for the maintenance of the peace and tranquility in the district if they did not.

The ACP, in a notice to the BJP leaders, stated that they were conducting the Yatra in the limits of the Jangaon district of the Warangal Commissionerate without permission from the competent authority.

He also said that it had also come to his notice that the BJP leaders were repeatedly giving provocative statements during the yatra, and were planning to organize a Dharma Deeksha in the limits of the Warangal Commissionerate, mobilizing huge crowds from other districts, too.

"In view of your provocative statements and planned deeksha with huge gathering from other districts, there is apprehension of breach of peace in the area resulting in serious law and order problems. Hence, you are directed to immediately stop the Praja Sangrama Yatra, otherwise action will be taken as per law for the maintenance of the peace and tranquility in the district (sic)," the ACP's notice read.

Reacting to the notice, Dr Manohar Reddy, G Premendar Reddy and Dugyala Pradeep Kumar said that they would not stop the Yatra under any circumstances.

They asserted that they were organizing the padayatra in three phases, with prior permission of the police. Asking why the police were raising objections now, they reiterated that they would continue the program what may come.

They also said that they would continue the padayatra up to the Sri Bhadrakali temple as per schedule.

They added that they would also organize huge a public meeting at Hanamkonda on August 27, and that BJP national president J P Nadda would be attending the meeting.
