Bandi, Other BJP Leaders Caned & Arrested On Way To TSPSC

The Telangana BJP president, MLA Eatala Rajender and others were arrested for trying to storm the TSPSC office over the leak of the recruitment question papers.
Hyderabad | 17th March 2023
Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with several other senior leaders including Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender, was arrested by the police for trying to storm the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) office at Nampally demanding a judicial probe by a sitting High Court judge into the leak of the question papers of "various recruitment tests".

Sanjay and hundreds of party workers first assembled at Gun Park to pay homage to the Telangana martyrs. As the BJP president and other party leaders started getting ready to leave for the TSPSC office at Nampally, the police obstructed them saying that there was no permission for them to stage any dharnas or protests.

Tension prevailed as Sanjay and the others were detained by the police, and the party workers tried to break the police barricades, leading to a clash between the two sides. Raising "we want justice" slogans, the BJP workers marched ahead towards the TSPSC office, and the police then resorted to a lathi charge to disperse them.

The police also resorted to a lathi charge on the journalists and camera persons of the electronic media, and photographers, who were covering the events.

Some BJP leaders, including BJP Minority Morcha State secretary Saifullah, received injuries and were shifted to Care Hospital.

The police later arrested Sanjay and Rajender and forcibly bundled them into a van. The BJP workers made an attempt to prevent the police van from moving ahead, but the police arrested all of them and shifted them to the police station.

BJP workers and Mahila Morcha activists then staged a sit-in before the Assembly building and raised slogans against the police. Some other BJP workers, and students affiliated to the ABVP, burnt effigies of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at several places in protest against the arrest of Sanjay.

The police shifted Sanjay and Eatala to the Karkhana police station in Secunderabad and kept them there till the evening. Later, Sanjay left for Gandhi Hospital where he called on the victims of the Swapnalok fire mishap, and from there went to Care Hospital to call on the BJP workers injured in the lathi charge.

Sanjay called for protest demonstrations at all district headquarters across Telangana on Saturday demanding a judicial inquiry into the TSPSC question paper leak and the sacking of State IT Minister K T Rama Rao.

Earlier, addressing party workers at Gun Park, Sanjay demanded that the CM react on the entire paper leak episode and sack his son K T Rama Rao from the cabinet.

"While the unemployed youth are concerned over their futures due to leak of question papers, KCR's family members have gone to Delhi to save his daughter Kavitha from being arrested," he said.

There, too, he demanded the sacking of the TSPSC Chairman and other members of the commission over the leak of the question papers, and a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to each of the unemployed youth who had suffered due to the leak of the question papers.
