Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today lashed out at the state's administration following an alleged lathi-charge on some BJP leaders, including Jangaon BJP head Pawan Sharma, who had organised a protest in front of the town's Municipal Commissioner's office after the banners that the party had put up on the occasion of National Youth Day, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, were removed.
The BJP head condemned the "indiscriminate attack" of the police on the party's workers, and alleged that they had acted on the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who himself "could not be bothered to honour important national leaders" and was "hindering" the efforts of others to do so as well.
Urging the CM to address the issue, he asked, "Would the CM keep quiet if his son was attacked in a similar fashion?"
Kumar also attacked the police personnel involved in the incident, accusing them of behaving like the stooges of the ruling party, and warned them that the BJP would not spare such "compromised" police officers.
He demanded that the state government take immediate action against the police officers who had attacked the saffron party's cadres, and that Jangaon Circle Inspector D Mallesh, who had reportedly spearheaded the attack, be suspended at the earliest.
Kumar warned the CM that the BJP would not sit quietly if no action was taken, and even threatened to lay siege to the office of the Director-General of Police in Lakdi-ka-Pul if Mallesh was not suspended.
