GHMC Commissioner Amrapali Kata today asked the people of the city not to come out in view of the incessant rains.
She said that in the wake of the announcement of a red alert by the Meteorological Department across Greater Hyderabad, the people should stay at home and venture out only if necessary.
She also said that children and the elderly should not go out alone under any circumstances, and should not walk on the roads.
She added that the GHMC officials were on alert, and were taking all possible safety measures.
People have also been asked not to open manholes, and inform the GHMC control room if any were opened.
The Commissioner also asked the officials to be vigilant in the wake of the rains.
