GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi today advised the people of the city to come out of their houses only if it was urgent.
The Mayor said that the GHMC is taking all possible precautionary measures to avoid inconvenience for the people following the incessant rains, and that EVDM teams had been deployed in key areas across the twin cities for carrying out relief activities.
She also directed the officials concerned to take protective measures to prevent accidents from happening at the SRDP, SNDP and other development work sites at various places in the city.
Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav too directed the officials to be alert in the wake of continuous rains in the city, and asked them to take all possible precautionary measures to ensure that people did not face any trouble.
Yadav held a video conference with the officials and reviewed the situation in Hyderabad which has received uninterrupted rain for the last two days. GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose was also present in the conference.
Yadav said that as the Hussain Sagar was receiving heavy flood water from its upper catchment areas, the authorities should monitor the water levels at the lake continuously and should alert the people living in the downstream areas at the time of releasing water.
He asked the officials to respond immediately to the complaints received from the people and provide the necessary services. As there was a possibility of rains for another two or three days, the officials at all levels should work in coordination, he added.
