Targeting YSR Congress Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Thursday told the former, from the dais of a public meeting in Rajahmundry, that a true leader could make the government work for the sake of people despite being in the opposition.
"It is not proper for Jagan to ask the people to wait till he becomes the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Becoming the Chief Minister is not a social change. Bringing change in the society is what politics is all about," the star said.
Addressing the Jana Sena activists of the Godavari districts on Thursday, the actor-turned-politician said that he had entered politics for three main reasons - political transparency, political accountability and social justice. All the three were lacking in today's politics, he said.
Taking potshots also at AP communications adviser Parakala Prabhakar, Pawan Kalyan asked the former why he failed to get the special status tag for Andhra Pradesh despite his wife Nirmala Sitharaman holding a top seat in the union cabinet.
Sifting through various topics during his speech, the star also spoke about the Polavaram project. "There is some talk of corruption in the project. Corruption, in fact, has become all pervasive today," he said.
On his support to the BJP-TDP combine in 2014, Pawan Kalyan said, "I supported the TDP-BJP combine keeping in mind the welfare of the people. I saw a leader in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But I cannot be taken for granted."
Claiming that he didn't have funds to hold meetings and run the party, the Jana Sena chief said that the party workers were his only strength. He said that nobody would give him hundreds of crores to run the party, and added, "Even if someone offers to, I will not accept it. I will prove that being in politics is possible without money, too."
Concluding his speech, Pawan Kalyan said that he would unveil Jana Sena's ideology and stand on various social issues, including reservations for Kapus, during a workshop in January.
