A bouncer employed by the Paradise restaurant beats up a woman flower vendor, sparking widespread outrage across the public.
Hyderabad's Paradise restaurant has recently been the talk of the town. No, they aren't giving away free biryanis. Yet. Although the management should seriously consider it a viable career move.
On Saturday, the 4th of May, 2013, a blog post titled "Paradise no more" went viral over social networks. Though posted in the morning, the article garnered nearly 300 Twitter shares and more than 300 Facebook shares.
The post was an eye-witness account by a customer who was present in the parking lot where the bouncer, Prakash Yadav, employed by Paradise, assaulted a female flower vendor outside the restaurant.
Apparently, the bouncers are in charge of overseeing the traffic at the parking lot, and when Yadav came across Aruna (the flower vendor), he gruffly asked her to vacate the spot that she was occupying (even though it wasn't within the premises of the restaurant).
The witness says that he began to verbally abuse the woman, and that this was quickly followed by physical assault, when Yadav pushed the vendor to the ground and destroyed her flowers.
The customers present in the parking lot raised a hue and cry over this, and several rushed to the rescue of the vendor.
Upon being accosted by some angry customers, Yadav ran into the parking lot. According to the blog post, when the manager of the restaurant finally intervened, he only increased the crowd's indignation by affecting an air of nonchalance towards the whole incident.
The police were informed, and according to DCP V B Kamalasan Reddy, "Within minutes, a team rushed to the spot".
The management at Paradise has reportedly fired the bouncer. Yadav was arrested and sent to the magistrate on the 4th of May.
However, Paradise's troubles are far from over. The public is now demanding that the manager who was on duty that night also be sacked.
The management has issued a statement, wherein they apologise to the "Flower Lady", and "the blogger and her friends".
This statement isn't going down well with people, as some say that the management is merely trying to wash their hands off the whole incident, and are thereby taking the most customary of steps.
