The Hyderabad Central University (HCU) student union leaders today organised a protest on campus to voice their concerns over the dissolution of unions on the campus.
The university administration had earlier dissolved some student unions and introduced a new election commission.
In response, the student union members sought to meet the Vice-Chancellor. Anticipating this, the administration blocked all entrances to the campus to prevent their entry. As a result, student leaders gathered at each gate, creating a tense atmosphere.
The union leaders accused the HCU administration of hastily dissolving the student unions without following the established protocols for convening a University General Body Meeting. They also claimed that locking the gates during operational hours without justification disrupted the students' academic and personal lives.
