The prime accused in the sensational Meerpet murder case had meticulously planned to eliminate any trace of the murder.
The Rachakonda police today presented Gurumurthy, the prime accused in the sensational Meerpet murder case, before the media.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Sudheer Babu revealed the horrifying details of the case.
Addressing the media, the CP said, "This is one of the most heinous crimes we have come across. Gurumurthy showed no remorse for the brutal murder of his wife Venkata Madhavi. It was not a crime of impulse but a premeditated act, carried out with extreme cruelty."
According to the police, Gurumurthy and Madhavi had taken their children to a relative's house for Sankranthi. CCTV footage showed the couple returning home at 10:41 pm on January 15, leaving their children with relatives. The next morning, on January 16, Gurumurthy had an argument with Madhavi for no apparent reason. During the altercation, he violently struck her head against the wall. When she collapsed, he strangled her to death. He then dismembered her body into four parts using a knife.
The CP explained that Gurumurthy then meticulously worked to eliminate any trace of the murder. Over an eight-hour period, he boiled her body parts on a heater, burned them on a stove, crushed the remains with a rock to turn them into powder, and later disposed of the powdered remains in the Jillelaguda pond.
"After cleaning the house thoroughly to remove all evidence, Gurumurthy went to a relative's house to bring back his children," the CP said.
When questioned by his children about their mother's whereabouts, Gurumurthy said that she had gone somewhere. Meanwhile, Madhavi's parents and relatives became suspicious when they couldn't contact her. Two days later, they confronted Gurumurthy, prompting him to file a missing persons report in an attempt to deflect suspicion.
Gurumurthy eventually confessed to Madhavi's uncle, revealing the gruesome details of the crime.
Investigators discovered that Gurumurthy, a former Army man with 15 years of service, had meticulously planned the murder.
The police have seized 16 items used in the crime, including a stove, knife, roller, bucket, water heater, acid bottle and room freshener, and clothing belonging to both the Latha and Gurumurthy.
The Commissioner said that technical evidence played a critical role in solving the case.
The police officials assured the public that they were committed to ensuring that Gurumurthy faced the full force of the law for his heinous act.
