CM Seeks Transfer Of Defence Land For Gandhi Sarovar

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today urged Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to transfer defence land for the prestigious Gandhi Sarovar project being undertaken by the Telangana government.

Reddy met Singh at the Union minister's official residence in New Delhi. During the meeting, he briefed the minister about the project at the confluence of the Musi and Eesa rivers in Hyderabad.

"The government has proposed to construct a Gandhi Circle of Unity at the junction of the two rivers, and defence land is required to complete the project," Reddy said. He requested the transfer of 98.20 acres of defence land to the State government.

The Chief Minister also said that the project was being developed as a symbol of national unity and to propagate Gandhian ideals. The project would include a knowledge hub, a meditation village, a handloom promotion centre, an entertainment hub, landscape features, ghats and a peace statue museum, he added.

MPs Porika Balaram Nayak, Kadiyam Kavya and Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Musi River Development Corporation Managing Director E V Narasimha Reddy, and Central Projects and Schemes Coordinator Dr Gaurav Uppal were present at the meeting.
