Online activism is a force to be reckoned with, it seems. The bouncer employed by Paradise restaurant, who was
caught harrasing a woman hawker on Friday night, has been sent to judicial remand.
The incident was witnessed by a number of customers, and one of them, Padma Priya, had blogged about it. The
blog post appeared online on the 4th of March.
According to a recent
tweet by Padma Priya (the customer who wrote the blog post), an FIR has been lodged against the bouncer, Prakash Yadav. He has been sent to judicial remand.
On Friday, the 3rd of May, shocked customers saw Yadav shouting at Aruna (the flower vendor), and the abuse quickly turned physical. Yadav pushed her to the ground, and destroyed her flowers. The incident took place near the parking lot of Paradise restaurant.
The police were called, and Yadav was apprehended on the spot. Since then, Padma Priya has been keeping track of the proceedings. In one of her recent tweets, she informs people that the bouncer in question has been put in judicial remand.
The management at Paradise had responded to the blog post by apologizing, and informing the public that they had fired the security agency that had employed Yadav.
