As he had promised to her earlier when he had visited her in the hospital, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today had Prathyusha, the girl who suffered prolonged abuse and torture at the hands of her father and stepmother, over at his official residence for lunch, after she had visited the Hyderabad High Court first.
Along with his wife Shobha, KCR consoled the girl who had been recuperating in the Aware Global Hospital so far, and asked her to avoid thinking of the past and stay brave to take on the future come what may.
In a gesture of concern and affection, KCR had lunch with the girl along with Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari and Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy.
KCR told Prathyusha that nobody would dare come in her way any more, and that she had got his support now. He asked her to make use of this opportunity to rise in her life.
"You should punish those who harassed you by coming up in life through studying well and leading a prosperous life," KCR told her.
Giving her his mobile number, the Chief Minister asked the girl to visit his home as and when she wanted to.
Directing Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari to take care of her education, he sanctioned Rs 5 lakhs to be deposited into her account.
KCR asked Collector Raghunandan Rao about the accommodation and facilities, and directed Cyberabad Commissioner C V Anand to provide adequate protection to the girl.
Later officials shifted Prathyusha to a hostel.
Earlier, after her discharge from the Aware Global Hospital, officials had taken her to the High Court where the Chief Justice asked them to take her to KCR's residence first. The Chief Justice also appreciated the gesture of KCR for extending support to the girl.
Prathyusha was rescued 3 weeks back by police and an NGO after being put to a lot of torture and harassment by her stepmother and father.
