Home Minister Mahmood Ali today felicitated DGP M Mahender Reddy and hailed his work at bringing in various reforms in the department for providing better policing.
Reddy is retiring from service on Saturday, and senior IPS officer Anjani Kumar has been appointed as acting Director General of Police.
During the felicitation, the Home Minister also presented a Charminar memento to the DGP.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Ali said that Reddy had worked at various levels during his 34-year professional career, and had brought a good name to Telangana in his final stint as DGP for nearly four years, making Telangana the number one State in the country in terms of law and order.
"Under Reddy, the State police launched a number of information technology initiatives that help the police in detecting and preventing crime in Telangana in a much better way," Mahmood Ali added.
Principal Secretary (Home) Ravi Gupta, additional DGPs Jithender and Sanjay Kumar Jain, and other senior officials were present.
