Telangana DGP M Mahender Reddy today quashed news reports insinuating that the accused in the sensational rape-murder of a six-year-old, Palakonda Raju, may have been killed by the police.
He said that there was no scope for any kind of doubt that Raju had committed suicide.
He was responding to the allegations being levelled by the family members of the accused and some civil society organisations.
Reddy said that the police had recorded the statements of eye witnesses in the case.
He said that the gangman of the railways had seen Raju moving around the track, and that a total of seven eye-witnesses including some farmers had seen Raju jumping before the train.
He also said that the loco pilots of the Konark Express were also the eye-witnesses to the suicide.
He claimed that the police had no need to lie on the issue, and that the leveling of the baseless allegations was uncalled for.
