The Director General of Police of Telangana, M Mahender Reddy, IPS, resumed duty on Saturday.
The office of the DGP said that Reddy had resumed his duty today after a two-week leave.
The DGP had gone on leave from February 18 after he fell in his house and suffered an injury to his left shoulder.
Upon the advice of his doctors, Reddy went on leave for two weeks, until March 4, and resumed duty today.
Anjani Kumar functioned as the in-charge DGP during the two weeks.
Incidentally, Telangana Congress head Revanth Reddy had claimed controversially that the DGP was forced to go on leave by the state government to make Anjani Kumar, a Bihar IPS officer, the de facto DGP of the state. Revanth Reddy has been claiming that KCR is of Bihari descent, and is deputing Bihar IAS and IPS officers to all top posts in the state. Reddy's comments drew strong condemnation from both Mahender Reddy and the IPS Officers' Association.
