Several students of Osmania University staged a dharna at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) in the OU campus here on Monday in protest against the suspension of 3 Dalit students.
EFLU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunaina Singh had suspended the 3 students for their alleged involvement in a violent protest.
The OU students, led by OUJAC leaders and Prof. Ved Kumar, Vema Latha and Prof. Visveshwar Rao, staged a dharna demanding that the suspension be revoked with immediate effect.
They accused the EFLU VC of discriminating against Dalit students.
Addressing the protesting students, Prof. Ved Kumar said that the matter would be represented to Governor E S L Narasimhan, and if required, a writ petition would also be filed in the High Court. (INN)
