Degree students living in the hostels in Nizam's College continued their agitation for the sixth day today demanding that their problems be resolved.
On Thursday too, they protested by not attending classes.
Though the government directed the college's Principal to take steps to resolve the issues, only a nominal discussion could be held with the students.
However, MLC Balmuri Venkat stepped in and tried to convince the students. He first spoke to the college Principal on the issues. He then went to the dharna they were staging and held discussions with them. He assured the UG students on behalf of the government that the issue would be resolved.
However, PG students were agitated. They protested asking what would happen to them if their hostel was allotted to the UG students. They expressed concern that if their hostel was allotted to the degree students, they would have to come from Osmania University, and would not be able to reach the college on time in buses in the current traffic. They appealed to the government to give them justice.
The seniors also said that the problem would be resolved if another building was constructed on the college premises.
Venkat assured the PG students that he would discuss the issue with the Osmania University VC and resolve it.
