Telangana State Farmers Coordination Committee chairman Palla Rajeshwar Reddy today claimed that the Opposition parties had no candidates to fight the municipal elections.
The Congress and the BJP did not even have anything to say against the State government any more, he said.
Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan today, Reddy said that the TRS would continue its streak of victory by clinching victory in the municipal elections too as there was no stamina left in the Opposition parties any more after the continuous string of defeats over six years now.
"Our party has three to four strong candidates in each ward, but the Opposition parties do not have even one in most places," he claimed.
Hitting out at the BJP for claiming that the State was getting huge funds from the Centre, Reddy said that the Centre was not returning even one-third of the funds it was getting from Telangana. While Telangana gave Rs 65,000 crore a year to the Centre, the latter returned only Rs 23,000 crore, he said.
"We spent Rs 5,400 crore on Rythu Bandhu and on drinking water for the municipalities on the outskirts, and removed the need for permission to build houses in 75 sq yards plots, things that impact people directly. What did the BJP do?" he asked.
He also slammed the accusations by the Congress that the TRS had a truck with the BJP. "We vehemently opposed the CAA and are offering only issue-based support to the Centre," he pointed out. "The Congress cannot say a thing about our work for the people, and so sticks to trying to impugn communal motives to us."
