BRS MLC K Kavitha filed a complaint today with Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukender Reddy against Congress MLC Chintapandu Naveen, popularly known as Teenmar Mallanna. She urged the Chairman to take strict action against Mallanna for making remarks that she said were defamatory and hurt her dignity.
Later, speaking to the media at Gutta's residence in Jubilee Hills, Kavitha said that Telangana had a tradition of respecting women, particularly those among the Backward Classes (BCs), and that such derogatory remarks would discourage women from entering politics.
She said that since the Assembly was not in session, the Chairman had advised her to file a complaint with the Ethics Committee. She also demanded that Mallanna's MLC membership be revoked immediately.
"We are consistently fighting for the implementation of BC reservations through Telangana Jagruti. Our activists were angered by your remarks and held a protest. Does that justify shooting them? I will not remain silent. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy must respond and take immediate action. Otherwise, it will appear as though the CM himself is backing Mallanna's comments," she said.
"It is ironic that even after 24 hours, the State government has not acted. If this is how a female legislator is treated, what can ordinary women expect? I urge the CM and DGP to conduct a thorough inquiry into the gunfire incident," she said.
