ULB Election Observers Meet Local Leaders

The ULB election observers today held meetings with the local leaders and the winning corporators of two municipal corporations and five municipalities in Telangana.
Hyderabad | 6th May 2021
After Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao appointed observers who were tasked with overseeing the appointment of Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Chairpersons and Deputy Chairpersons to seven ULBs yesterday, the observers reportedly held meetings with local leaders and the winning corporators today.

(KCR has appointed various ministers, including Indrakaran Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, V Prashant Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and S Niranjan Reddy, and other high-profile officials as observers.)

They informed the newly-elected corporators and councillors to follow the directions of the CM regarding the process of appointing the ULB chairpersons, deputies, mayors and deputies, who will be elected on May 7 - the mayoral posts and the posts of chairpersons will be filed as per the guidelines of the Election Commission, in accordance with the required Covid-19 safety protocols.

Following the meeting, the observers told that the CM that the names of the candidates being considered for the posts of Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Chairpersons and Deputy Chairpersons in the seven ULBs had been finalised.

The TRS won the recently held municipal elections with comfortable margins. The winners will be sworn into office on May 7.

After enjoying landslide victories in the elections held in two municipal corporations and five municipalities, KCR instructed the observers to follow Covid-19 protocols for the indirect elections of the ULB officials.

Reports say that the details of the appointments will reportedly be sent to the ULBs in sealed envelopes. The decision of the TRS supremo, KCR, will be binding in the matter.
