TRS leaders Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Suman today lashed out at the Congress for spreading "false information" on the ex-officio members' roles in electing chairpersons for the Telangana municipalities elections for which happened last week.
Talking to the media, they accused the Congress of lying on the issue without any compunction.
"The Congress and the BJP are trying to blame the TRS government hoping that the people and the media will not find out the actual facts," Rajeshwar Reddy said.
The fact was that TRS MP K Keshava Rao and Congress MP K V P Ramachandra Rao had agreed to swap their voting rights, he said.
"K Keshava Rao and K V P Ramachandra Rao spoke among themselves and swapped their representations to their own states. The constitution allows them to do that, and also to vote as ex-officio members to elect the chairpersons. The Rajya Sabha officially clarified on the situation, but the Congress is still trying to mislead the people," he said.
"The people overwhelmingly rejected the Congress in the elections and reiterated their support for the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, but the Congress is simply unable to digest that, and goes on indulging in false talk to try and denigrate the TRS. The Congress should try to change its attitude, otherwise they will face the people's fury very soon," he said.
