A dispute between a 27-year-old man and his father over cooking chicken ended in the latter being killed, at Babapur village (Kowtala mandal, Adilabad district), late Wednesday evening.
According to Sub-Inspector Mohammed Sajeed Pasha, Saidam Rajesh had come home after work in an intoxicated state, bringing along a chicken with him. He asked his father, Saidam Pentaiah (55), to cook the chicken for dinner.
Pentaiah would take care of the cooking and household chores, ever since his wife died and his son's wife deserted him some months ago.
Pentaiah, being tired after a hard day's work, refused. Rajesh, already intoxicated by liquor, grew angry at the refusal and started an argument with his father. As words between the two flew back and forth, tempers too arose, to the point where Rajesh picked a sharp knife and attacked his father.
The attack left deep gashes in his father's neck and the back of the head, leaving him bleeding profusely.
Hearing his cries of pain, villagers rushed to his help and summoned a 108 ambulance. He died while being shifted to hospital.
In the melee, Rajesh managed to flee the spot. Police have registered a case against him under Section 302 IPC, and are trying to nab him.
