The well-marked low pressure area over east Equatorial Indian Ocean & the adjoining south-east Bay Of Bengal has concentrated into a depression over the same region and lay centered at about 1,140 km east south-east of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 1,490 km south-east of Chennai and 1,760 km south south-east of Machilipatnam, at 8:30 am IST on April 26.
The Met office said that it was very likely to intensify further into a deep depression during the next 24 hours, and into a cyclonic storm in the subsequent 12 hours.
It was also very likely to move north-westwards off the Sri Lanka coast during the next 96 hours and approach the northern Tamil Nadu & southern Andhra Pradesh coasts by the evening of April 30.
As a result, light to moderate rain or thunder showers are very likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana in the next five days.
