The Hyderabad Meteorological Department today issued another rain alert for Telangana.
The department officials predicted that several regions in the State were likely to experience rainfall over the next two days, and issued a yellow alert for those areas and urged the public to remain cautious.
The officials predict moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Adilabad, Mahabubabad, Nirmal, Siddipet, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts. A yellow alert has been issued for these districts due to the likelihood of thunderstorms.
The met officials said that the southwest monsoon had however begun retreating from northern India. "The winds known as the northeast monsoon have crossed Madhya Pradesh and are expected to reach the two Telugu states in the first week of October. Currently a low-pressure system is forming over the Bay of Bengal, which could lead to moderate rainfall. While scattered cloud cover is expected on Monday, there is no significant chance of heavy rainfall," they said.
For the unversed, Telangana received abundant rainfall this year, surpassing expected levels, and earlier this month, heavy rains and floods wreaked havoc across the State.
