Hyderabad | 20th April 2025
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad, its surrounding areas, and several districts in Telangana for the next two days, indicating the likelihood of rain accompanied by thunder, lightening and gusty winds.
Wind speeds are expected to reach 30 to 40 km/hour.
According to the IMD, there is a possibility of scattered rainfall in Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, Siddipet, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Medchal and Nagarkurnool districts.
Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds have already wreaked havoc in the Narmeta mandal of Jangaon district. Paddy stored at procurement centres in the Agapet, Gandiramavaram, Veldanda, Ammapuram, Machupahad, Hanmanthapur and Bommakuru villages was soaked and damaged. Trees were uprooted and fell on power lines and poles, disrupting electricity supply in several areas. In many places, paddy crops ready for harvest were flattened by the winds.
Telangana has been experiencing fluctuating weather conditions over the past few days, with intense heat during the morning hours followed by evening showers.
Daytime temperatures have been ranging between 40?C and 44?C. The highest daytime temperature was recorded in Adilabad district at 43.8?C. Manakondur in Karimnagar district reported 43.4?C, while Konaraopet, Illantakunta and Nizamabad districts recorded 42.3?C.
