Injured Kukatpally Cop Passes Away

Kukatpally traffic police ASI Mahipal Reddy, who had been injured in a drunken-driving accident, breathed his last yesterday.

Kukatpally traffic police ASI Mahipal Reddy, who had sustained grievous injuries after a drunk Uber driver rammed his vehicle into Reddy for fear of being caught, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Hyderabad yesterday.

He was declared brain dead on March 30 while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The unfortunate incident took place when Reddy was conducting a routine DUI check at the Kolan Raghava Reddy Gardens on Nizampet Road at 11 pm on Saturday, March 17. The accused driver has been identified as Aslam.

Following his passing, the deceased cop's family donated his organs to the Jeevandan Trust.

Many high-profile officials conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family. Among them was Cyberabad Police Commissioner, V C Sajjanar, who lauded the family of the ASI for donating his organs and saving the lives of eight people with those organs. He met the family at their residence in Kismatpur village of Rangareddy district. He was accompanied by Shamshabad DCP N Prakash Reddy, Cyberabad DCP (Traffic) S M Vijay Kumar, Madhapur DCP Venkateshwarlu, Rajendranagar ACP R Sanjay Kumar, Kukatpally ACP Surender Rao, Rajendranagar inspector Kanakiah and KPHB inspector Lakshminarayana. Many other police officials, including the colleagues of the deceased, also met the family. Further, all the police officials participated in the funereal ceremonies.

Telangana Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy too visited the bereaved family and paid her respects to the officer. She was accompanied by her son, Karthik Reddy.
