TRS working president and Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao demanded an unconditional apology from the BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay for levelling "baseless allegations", failing which he would be forced to initiate legal action against the latter.
The BJP leader had during his ongoing padayatra alleged that the "negligence" of the State government and the "mistakes" of K T Rama Rao's "benami company" had forced nearly 27 intermediate students to commit suicides.
He pledged to send Rao behind bars once the BJP came to power in the State.
KTR asked Sanjay to prove his allegations by presenting evidence in the public domain or apologise publicly.
Terming the remarks of Sanjay as ridiculous, Rao, in a tweet, criticised the BJP leader for indulging in a continuous mudslinging campaign against the TRS government.
"Don't indulge in publicity stunts. If you have any evidence supporting the remarks, put them in the public domain or tender an apology in public," KTR said.
