Reacting to news reports that industries minister K T Rama Rao had sent him a legal notice demanding a public apology from him and warning him of a Rs 100 crore defamation suit if he didn't apologise, Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today said that he would not tender any kind of apology to the minister at any cost.
He said that he wouldn't succumb to any empty threats, and was ready to wage a legal battle on the defamation notices served on him by Rao in connection with his (Bandi's) comments on Rao about the leakage of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question papers.
"There is no question of tendering any public apology. I am ready to fight legally for justice," Bandi said.
"KTR cannot tolerate it if somebody questions his failures and exposes the goofs-up in the government. He routinely uses the police force to beat up any protestors who agitate against his government. And now he is showing that he will use the courts, too," Bandi alleged.
"And if KTR's reputation and image are worth Rs 100 crore, then how much money should be paid to the 30 lakh unemployed youths whose futures are in jeopardy due to the leakage of the TSPSC question papers because of the misrule of his BRS government?" he asked.
Sanjay also asked why the BRS leaders and ministers were trying to brush aside the leakage of the TSPSC question papers as an insignificant issue. "KTR kept trying to trivialise the leak claiming that only two unethical people were involved in the case, and other members of the BRS leadership adopted the same strategy. It is only after more names have started coming out now that they have all been forced to go silent. And I am also surprised about how the issues being probed by the SIT are being leaked to KTR. Why haven't the police filed a criminal case against KTR for trying to influence the probe, when they are targeting us when we question the wrongdoings?" he asked
Sanjay reiterated that as the IT and MA&UD minister, KTR alone would be held responsible for the goofs-up in his departments - right from the issuance of birth and death certificates to the question paper leakage, the deaths of children by falling in sewerage canals and the mauling of children by dogs.
"He should quit his post immediately owning moral responsibility for all the disasters in his jurisdiction," the BJP leader reiterated.
He also asserted that KTR owed an explanation to the people of Telangana on how he had amassed such huge wealth in the last nine years.
"Everybody knows that before the Telangana movement, KTR was working in the US. Now he is worth hundreds of crores. Where did he get such wealth from?" Bandi asked.
The Telangana BJP president also taunted the Chief Minister's son for "considering himself as an intellectual par excellence just because he could speak a few English words".
