Hyderabad | 14th December 2018
To be able to concentrate on national politics and form an anti-BJP anti-Congress federal front, TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today appointed Sircilla MLA K T Rama Rao as the party's working president.
The TRS supremo reportedly took this decision as he would be preoccupied with governance, the implementation of welfare and development activities in the state, and fulfilling the party's electoral promises, and to enable him to spend time on his federal front project.
The TRS chief is said to be impressed by the working style, commitment and leadership qualities of KTR, and so decided to make the latter the TRS working president. He expressed strong belief that KTR would lead the TRS efficiently and effectively in the days to come.
KTR had already proved his mettle during the 2016 Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections where he led the party to a thumping victory, and he was also in charge of diffusing the tensions that emerged after the ticket allotment for the just-concluded Telangana Assembly elections.
The responsibilities given to KTR include increasing the party membership enrollment, construction of permanent buildings for the district party offices, strengthening the party, and leading the party to victories in the series of elections spanning the next six months (the Panchayat and the Lok Sabha elections).
Elated with the new post, KTR affirmed that he would take the TRS to new heights, and that he would meet the expectations of the people of Telangana who had reposed their faith in the TRS.
The decision was also welcomed by several party leaders, including by rival power centre and senior leader T Harish Rao, who also played a pivotal role in the party's landslide victory in the Assembly elections, who visited KTR's residence and congratulated him. Others who congratulated KTR included TRS senior leader Kadiam Srihari, home minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, MIM Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, and new TRS MLAs Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Balka Suman, V Srinivas Goud and Danam Nagender.
KTR also visited the TRS secretary-general and Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao at his residence and personally thanked him.
