Need Alternative Agenda, Not Political Fronts: KCR

Telangana Rashtra Samithi supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today said that the country needed an alternative agenda, and not any political realignments.

Speaking at the 21st Foundation Day celebrations of his party organised at the HICC, Madhapur, the TRS president expressed concern over the "unhealthy" situation prevailing in the country where some forces were indulging in "creating unrest in the name of caste and religion".

"Right now, the country needs peace and social harmony. It needs an alternative agenda and not political fronts or political realignment," Rao said.

The remarks appear to indicate that the CM's efforts to forge a third front have failed.

KCR also said the development works and welfare schemes being implemented in Telangana had become role models for other States in the country.

"Just look at the list of best villages in the country. The top ten villages belong to Telangana. It shows how Telangana has been progressing in development," the Chief Minister said.

Giving out the reasons for the successful achievements in the Panchayat Raj department, the Chief Minister said that all elected representatives were involved in the Palle Pragathi program, and that village presidents and secretaries were held responsible for any failure to protect the trees in their villages.

He also claimed that Telangana had achieved remarkable progress in the quality of power supply and the availability of drinking and irrigation water to its people.

Pointing to the water wars and the power sector woes in the country despite the availability of natural resources, KCR said that in contrast to the State, the union government had not been performing well.
