Congress senior leader V Hanumantha Rao today demanded that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao give permission for M Kodandaram's Telangana Jana Samithi's foundation meeting to be held at a stadium, and asked the CM why the government was not able to spare a single stadiums for Kodandaram's meeting when the same government was renting stadiums to film people.
He warned the state government of a "tsunami" if it failed to accord permission to Kodandaram's meeting.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, VHR said that the TJS had applied for permission to conduct a meeting at Saroor Nagar Stadium or NTR Stadium on April 29. However, the police had rejected the application stating that a meeting at Saroor Nagar Stadium would not be allowed. The Ranga Reddy district Collector too rejected the party's application, he said.
The TJS would now approach the High Court seeking permission for the meeting, and would file a petition in the court in the name of party chief Ambati Srinivas, VHR said.
He said that the party would plead with the High Court to direct the government to give permission for Kodandaram's meeting at L B Stadium or the Nizam College grounds.
