Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Praja Kutami would be decided after the completion of the Telangana Assembly elections, and added that their whole attention, for the time being, was on ensuring the defeat of the ruling TRS.
Addressing the media in Hyderabad after the conclusion of the grueling election campaign along with TDP president Chandrababu Naidu, TJS president M Kodandaram, CPI national leader Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, Balladeer Gaddar and Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) president Manda Krishna Madiga, Gandhi said that KCR had betrayed the people of Telangana by failing to act on his (KCR) promises.
"We thought that he would deliver on all of his promises and fulfill all the aspirations of the people of Telangana. However, he broke all their dreams and aspirations and completely failed to deliver on his promises," Gandhi said.
Gandhi claimed that, unlike the TRS, the Praja Kutami would fulfill all the promises it made to the people of Telangana. Stating that the primary goal of the Praja Kutami was to provide jobs to all the unemployed youth in Telangana, the Congress president promised to establish food processing units in the state.
Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu said that the Telangana Assembly elections were the harbinger of change across the country.
Naidu alleged that KCR was making baseless allegations against him claiming that he was obstructing the irrigation projects in Telangana, and added that he always hoped to see Telangana as the number one state in the entire country.
Alleging that the TRS had destroyed a great state like Telangana through its "misrule and anti-people policies", Naidu claimed that only the government formed by the Praja Kutami could ensure a bright future for the state.
TJS president Kodandaram called upon the people of Telangana to vote for the Praja Kutami if they wanted to replace the KCR-led feudal rule with democracy, and expressed hope that the people of Telangana would help the Praja Kutami in its effort to restore democracy.
CPI national general secretary Reddy said that KCR was acting as an agent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and added that they all (the Congress, the TDP, the TJS and the CPI) had joined hands to defeat KCR in the Telangana elections.
Balladeer Gaddar said that only the Praja Kutami was the symbol of social justice in the state and urged the people to help it form the government in Telangana.
