Rana Daggubati Appears Before ED In Betting App Case
Rana was initially asked to appear on July 23, but requested for a rescheduling to August 11, and attended the summons at the agency's office in Basheerbagh.
Telugu film actor Rana Daggubati today appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to record his statement in connection with a betting app case.
Recently, the ED issued notices to several film personalities accused of promoting betting apps, including Rana. Rana had featured in an advertisement for a betting app, and was booked by the Cyberabad police along with other well-known actors for allegedly promoting betting among people, causing them heavy financial losses and, in some cases, to commit suicide.
The ED launched a separate probe following the FIR, and as part of it issued notices to 36 film industry figures. Rana was initially asked to appear on July 23, but he requested for a rescheduling to August 11, and attended the summons at the agency's zonal office in Basheerbagh.
Notices have also been served to Manchu Lakshmi, who has been directed to appear on August 13. Actors Prakash Raj and Vijay Deverakonda have already appeared before the ED and given their statements.
During the questioning, ED officials reportedly sought details about Rana's financial transactions and banking records.
