Congress Ready To Hike Reservation For BCs To 42%: VHR
Senior Congress leader and former MP V Hanumantha Rao said that the State government was prepared to increase the reservation for BCs in local bodies to 42%.
Senior Congress leader and former MP V Hanumantha Rao today said that the Congress government was dedicated to the welfare and development of marginalized communities, and firmly committed to implementing the Kamareddy Declaration made by the party during the Assembly elections.
Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Rao said that the State government was prepared to increase the reservation for BCs in local bodies to 42%.
He also claimed that the Congress had provided numerous opportunities for the BCs, including as PCC presidents.
The former MP also commented on K Kavitha's demand at Dharna Chowk yesterday for 42% reservation for BCs. "Kavitha's affection for the BCs is nothing but hypocritical; it is not genuine. Why did her father KCR not release the details of the comprehensive family survey when the BRS government was in power? Why did KCR reduce reservations in local body elections? What have BRS leaders done for the BCs in the last ten years?" he asked.
Rao also criticized the BRS for changing the party's name, and claimed that the public began distancing themselves from the party (originally called TRS) after it was renamed BRS.
