The Telangana High Court today dismissed a case related to an alleged violation of the Election Code against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
The case, filed in October 2019 at the Garidepalli police station in Suryapet district, led Reddy to petition for the dismissal of the charges. Justice K Laxman, after examining the matter, ruled in favour of quashing the case.
In a separate matter, the Supreme Court admonished petitioner Peddiraju for filing an SC/ST Atrocities Act case against the Chief Minister.
A bench headed by Chief Justice B R Gavai also directed him to submit an affidavit of apology to Justice Mousami Bhattacharya of the High Court.
Earlier, the Telangana High Court had dismissed Peddiraju's case against Revanth Reddy. Peddiraju then sought to transfer the matter to the Supreme Court's Nagpur Bench through a transfer petition.
Peddiraju was found to have made inappropriate remarks about Justice Bhattacharya. The Chief Justice's bench expressed displeasure at both the petitioner and the Advocate-on-Record who prepared the petition. It directed Peddiraju to file the affidavit of apology within a week, and postponed further hearings for four weeks.
