BRS working president K T Rama Rao today targeted the Congress government over the latest CAG quarterly report.
He said that the report showed a significant decline in the State's income, and that the drop was ringing alarm bells for the State's economy.
"The economic sector is being damaged due to the Congress government's failures. Without implementing a single welfare scheme, building a single project, or providing nutritious food to students, the government is accumulating huge debts. They may talk about six guarantees, but the only guarantee they have delivered is ruining the State's economy," KTR said.
Citing the CAG findings, he claimed that Telangana's economy had deteriorated completely since Revanth Reddy became the Chief Minister, with the situation turning "upside down" in just three months.
"While the State's income is falling, debts are rising. The budget projected a surplus of Rs 2,738 crore, but the first quarter alone recorded a revenue deficit of Rs 10,583 crore. In three months, Rs 20,266 crore was borrowed. Non-tax revenue has collapsed, with only 3.37% of the budget estimate collected. Not a single road has been laid or new project built. What will the Congress economic experts, who once boasted that Telangana's economy is on auto-pilot, say now?" he asked.
KTR demanded that the government present a clear plan to the people to revive the State's economy.
