Congress MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy, who represents the Mahabubnagar Assembly constituency, today alleged again that the previous BRS government had misused the administration for political gain, and said that the tapping of the phone calls of politicians and businessmen was done on the direction of then chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Srinivas Reddy said that that in general tapping of phone calls was done to monitor the movements of terrorists, and the tapping of the calls of opposition leaders was unusual in India.
"Unfortunately, it took place in Telangana during the BRS regime," he said.
The Congress MLA alleged that the phone-tapping was done on the orders of KCR, and that the process was done by setting up special teams without the knowledge of the DGP.
He also slammed BRS working president K T Rama Rao for sending a legal notice to him, and said that that KTR didn't have any legal or administrative knowledge.
"I have complained about the tappings to the DGP based on the media reports, and asked for an inquiry into the episode. But KTR is pointing at me in the episode. I will fight him legally and give a reply to the legal notice," he said.
