The State BJP leaders today staged a dharna at Indira Park demanding a thorough probe by the government into the sensational phone-tapping case.
They accused the State government of trying to dilute the matter.
The dharna was attended by the party's State president (and union minister) Kishan Reddy, MP K Laxman and MLAs.
Speaking on the occasion, the BJP leaders said that they had been demanding that the State government hand over the case to the CBI immediately as the Congress government was weakening the case, but to no avail. They asserted that their fight would not stop till all the culprits in the case were brought to justice.
Senior BJP leader and MP Laxman demanded that the State government take immediate action in the phone-tapping case. He said that the case should be handed over to the CBI if CM Revanth Reddy did not want to remain a historyless man in the history of Telangana.
"Revanth Reddy had repeatedly mentioned KCR's corruption before the Assembly elections. He also alleged that phone-tapping was used to buy voters and hit out at opponents in the by-elections. However, once in power he is now going slow on the case and diluting it. All those arrested so far have given clear statements, but the case is not moving. The people will realise the betrayal of the Congress and will once again give the BJP the reins in the Lok Sabha elections," he said.
"The KCR government filed illegal cases against senior BJP leader B L Santosh. KCR misused the police system, and cases were filed against many BJP leaders to get BRS MLC Kavitha out of the liquor case. Police officials told me that the phone-tapping took place upon the directions of KCR and former minister Harish Rao. However, now Revanth Reddy is sitting on the case. Clearly, the BRS and the Congress are now together. Mark my words, the BRS will merge with the Congress after the Lok Sabha election results," he added.
