Unknown miscreants today issued a bomb threat to the airport in Shamshabad, sending an email claiming that a bomb had been planted on the premises.
Following the alert, airport security personnel conducted intensive checks across the facility.
Airport officials later lodged a complaint with the airport police, and also assured travelers that there was no need to panic and that all necessary security measures were in place. They also advised passengers to immediately report the movement of any suspicious persons.
Authorities said that similar threats had recently been made to airports in several States through mobile phones, and there had also been incidents of threatening calls to multiple schools in Delhi. In response, central intelligence agencies had been alerted, and investigations were underway to identify those responsible for the hoax calls, they said.
The spate of such incidents has created widespread anxiety among the public, prompting growing demands for stronger security measures and swift action at crowded places.
