Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today performed the Bhumi Puja for the construction of the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) building and the Radial Road-1 (Phase I and II) at Meerkhanpet village in Kandukur mandal of Rangareddy district.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said that his government's vision was to position Future City as a global destination for investment and innovation, and that it would emerge as a hub for Fortune 500 companies within the next decade.
"The Future City will be a world of opportunities. The government has ambitious plans to develop it into a great city - one that top cities around the globe will discuss and admire," he said.
Recalling the growth of Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad during the eras of Quli Qutub Shah, the Nizams and the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister said, "We must learn from the past and build a Future City for future generations."
Urging people not to fall prey to the opposition's false propaganda, Reddy alleged that certain vested interests were conspiring to obstruct the project. He dismissed allegations that he owned land in the proposed area, and said, "The Future City is for future generations, not for my family." He sought public cooperation and advised citizens to refrain from approaching the courts, saying that the government was ready to address grievances through dialogue. "The government is proactive and committed to resolving issues generously," he added.
Talking about the upcoming infrastructure, Reddy announced plans for a dry port linking the greenfield highway between Machilipatnam and the Future City, and said that the Union government had agreed to develop a bullet train network connecting the Future City to Amaravati.
He also said that the new city would feature an underground power network, with the FCDA building and a Skill University scheduled for completion by December. The authority would begin operations from this building three times a month, and prospective investors would be invited for discussions, he added.
The CM also suggested that ministers Bhatti Vikramarka and Sridhar Babu allocate 10 acres of land for the Singareni Collieries corporate office within the project.
